2018 hair trends from Malkim Hair Shop Guelph

As we get closer and closer to spring, many of us are thinking about ways we can update our hair for the new season! If you’re looking for a change but you’re not sure where to start, consider some of these fun and trendy hairstyles for 2018.

Low-Maintenance Bob

There’s never really such a thing as a zero maintenance haircut, but the low-maintenance bob is as close as you can get! This trendy look for 2018 features minimal layering so you don’t have to do much other than wash or brush your hair. Chin- or ear-length are both great options depending on your preferences, and rock it with a side part or a middle part.

Longer Pixie

Pixies never go out of style, but they do evolve from year to year. This year, try a longer pixie that looks great with wavy or curly hair. Think of it as a sort of grown-out pixie look, with side-swept bangs that are super flattering.

Shags & Bangs

The 70s and 80s are alive and well this year, meaning the modern shag is making a huge splash in hair salons. They’re great for people who want a low-maintenance cut and they give anyone an immediate cool-girl vibe. Try them with soft, shaggy bangs and you’re bound to look like a rockstar.

Deep Side Parts

No matter what your hair length, from short bobs to long tresses, deep side parts are gaining in popularity this year. This look works well with hairs of all lengths and textures, and it adds a bit of sophistication to an otherwise low-maintenance cut.

Natural Textures

As many of the previously mentioned trends point to, many women are choosing to ditch the straighteners and curling irons and instead embrace their natural texture. Whether your hair is pin-straight, has a slight wave or you’re blessed with tight curls, avoid the urge to over-style your hair and let your hair do its thing.

Silver Hair

Last year’s pastel trend has given way to an even edgier look: silver hair. It’s an upgrade on the grey hair trend of 2017, but with a more metallic look with more shine. This colour trend has taken its cues from similar trends in makeup and clothing, and it can be done in a subtle way or a more extreme – whatever you prefer!
